PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland freshman Joel Foxwell set two new Pilot single season records and erupted for a career-high 35 points, but the Pepperdine Waves came away with a 95-87 victory in West Coast Conference men's basketball action Wednesday night at the Chiles Center.

The Pilots (12-16, 5-10 WCC) shot 62 percent from the field and outscored the Waves (8-20, 3-12) 48-24 in the paint, but Pepperdine drilled 16 three-pointers and had a 35-22 rebounding margin to pull off the road upset.

Foxwell led four Pilots in double figures with 35 points and eight assists. The Melbourne, Australia native broke the single-season program record for assists previously held by Alec Wintering (187) during the 2015-16 campaign.
