David De Gea has reportedly been told to sign his new Manchester United contract by the end of the calendar year as he approaches the expiration of his current deal and with suitors said to be circling.
The Spain No. 1 has the option to extend that stay by another 12 months, which United are expected to trigger, although The Sun (h/t Mirror's Liam Prenderville) reported the Red Devils are now "running out of patience."
De Gea has arguably been United's top performer since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013 and has played a major hand in keeping the club competitive in big fixtures and more so in general.
